Please give more details of new technical application area:
Ruminants mainly thrive on crop residues, which are deficient in protein, minerals and vitamins. In order to mitigate the deficiency of nutrients in straws to greater extent for bringing improvements in the production performances of cattle and buffaloes a complex of urea, cane molasses, minerals and vitamins in shape of blocks UMMB have been developed through the application of a novel cold process compacting technology.

Please describe in detail including the TRL Level:
Technology Assigned to Agrinnovate India Ltd., for technology transfer or commercialization.

    Abstract:

Applications: The consistency of UMMB facilitates gradual licking along with intake of straws that provide a more balanced nutrients pool supply to the microbial growth vis a vis microbial digestion of cellulosic straws and thereby improvement in the availability of nutrients. The main advantages are better way to manage crop residues, improves productive and reproductive performance, reduces methane emission, better health status, scope for value addition blocks as a vehicle for medicine or neutraceutical administration, better economic returns. Moreover, feed banks of UMMBs can be set up by the Government to provide balanced feeding of ruminants under field conditions. This technology is very simple, easily adoptable and convenient for the easy transportation and also safe storage at dry place for reasonably long period.
Advantages: Ingredients are easily available in the local markets Blocks can be prepared in simple molds Blocks are compact, handy and dry for easy storage and long distance transportation Block is palatable but intake is regulated due to dryness which helps in continuous intake by licking

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work
read more >>

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
