Type of technology development: Indigenous
Does the technology help in replacing any import items currently
procured from outside India?
Does the technology have export potential? 1
Category of Technology developed: Immediate Deployment
Stage of Development: Lab-Scale
Please describe in detail including the TRL Level:
We have tested the technique in the lab scale using water containing E.coli of 3 × 108 cellsml. All the experiments are successful and multi-cycle experiments with SEP+ show no regrowth of any bacteria in the stored water without degrading its efficiency. Moreover, in addition to synthetic water, we have performed additional experiments to check bacterial removal effectiveness of SEP under different water matrix using real water collected from Narmada Canal (largest and longest irrigation canal in north-western India that brings water from the Sardar Sarovar Dam to the 75 percent population of the Gujarat State through a State Wide Drinking Water state of Gujarat, India). o Results show that while feed solution have different size and shape of bacterial colonies indicating different type of microorganisms present in the water, SEP is capable of removing different types of bacteria completely without any regrowth even after 24 hour of incubation at 37 oC without using any nAg BY Ag+ disinfectant. In addition, we are in touch with the Sarjan Water Tech India Pvt Ltd a reputed and an expert end-to-end, water purification and filtration solutions provider, for the deployment of the proposed filter material. Soon, we will test the SEP based filter performance for the large volume of water.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
