Please describe in detail including the TRL Level:
The prototype of the redesgned floor stone polishing machine has been developed and field tested for demonstrating its better efficiency and usability Users are highly satisfied with the redesigned device as evident from Filing patent and design registration are under process

    Abstract:

Applications: Workers engaged in stone floor polishing activities suffer from work-related musculoskeletal disorders WMSDs due to exposure to high level of hand arm vibration adopting awkward postures and performing strenuous repetitive activities for prolong duration Polishing tools available in the local market and used by the construction workers are mainly the modified drill machines It has various limitations which include generation of huge vibrational energy due to torque and jerk by a compound gear mechanism improper handle design in terms of grip diameter coating material form etc the requirement of high muscle force for polishing and sustained load holding To resolve the aforesaid lacunae an ergonomic redesign of the polishing machine has been carried out Field trial of the developed prototype II was highly appreciated by the user
Advantages: less vibration generation and transmission due to planetary gear mechanism and use of vibration dampening coating material on handle supportive legs to avoid sustained load holding along with provision of two hand manoeuvrability less muscle force for polishing operation AND anthropometric compatible handle and aesthetic look

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work
read more >>

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
