    Abstract:

Applications: The dengue detection device is a paper-based lateral flow immunoassay which is capable of detecting dengue NS1 level up to 5 ng per mL, which is very low as compared to the available market devices. The proposed diagnostic device presents a low cost solution, primarily for secondary patients where the level of NS1 antigen is very low. The presented protocol is a novel protocol for carrying out the dengue diagnostics through specific antibody-antigen chemistry via derived gold conjugated chemistry
Advantages: The level of dengue NS1 is quite low in initial days of infection which increases rapidly in the further days. This NS1 level is further lower in secondary patients, hence to detect extremely low level of infection, a highly sensitive detection scheme is always a requirement. At present reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and enzyme link immunosorbent assay is most prominently used for obtaining high sensitive detection but these schemes are generally very expensive and hence the rapid detection scheme is slowly translating towards colorimetric detection of the dengue. In this line, the proposed technology stands upfront as a very low limit detection is achieved through our reported protocol.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work
read more >>

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
