    Abstract:

Applications: In this invention, we have developed a wastewater treatment plant where coagulation and flocculation was achieved by mixing of acidic (steel) and alkaline (textile) effluents. The locally available sand is acid and alkali activated and utilized for sand filtration of the effluent. Also, the advanced oxidation of the effluent was achieved by using ZnO or GO based photocatalysis method to reduce the COD level and color of the wastewater. The PAN fibre and activated carbon filter (ACF) are used to remove the remaining contaminants and to maintain the inland discharge standards of the wastewater, recommended by the pollution control board. The industrial effluent consisting of harmful contaminants is degraded by using a pre-filtration unit followed by photocatalytic remediation and an activated carbon filtration unit.
