    Abstract:

Applications: This invention discloses a novel design for a tactile dial for a timepiece for the visually impaired people. The surface of such watches has twelve protruding tactile elements that are used as hour markers which the user can touch and feel to recognize the hour markers. To help user easily identify 12 different hour markers, it is required to have more than two different shapes of markers on the dial face. We came up with a step architecture design of the tactile markers in order to keep the number of shapes per dial face to a minimum of two. This keeps the watch face simple and promotes user engagement with the device.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
