    Abstract:

Applications: A system to bringing in sunlight for indoor lighting during the day.
Advantages: Solar Day lighting is a product that harnesses natural day light, concentrates and channelizes it for illumination of commercial built spaces. Rapid growth of cities have given rise to closely spaced multi storied buildings which lead to poor natural light penetration during daytime. Most office spaces use artificial lights 24X7 to maintain constant illumination all the time, which causes Seasonal Affected Disorder (SAD) in employees due to lack of exposure to natural sun light. This product is minimally invasive to existing architecture and modular in structure. The invention has a tracking module, a concentrating module, a heat isolation module, and transmission modules made of convex lens array and mirrors. The above described product can provide illumination for up to 8hrs a day and over 250 days a year based on the geographical location of the built space.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work
read more >>

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
