Please describe in detail including the TRL Level:
The literature review regarding the current mathematical models, both skeletal and muscle models emulating human locomotion is done and the research gap has been identified. The next step is to incorporate the motor learning variables with the musculoskeletal model and then validate using Upright Posture Experiment and Gait dynamics experiment. This will provide us with a novel dynamic relationship between the human locomotion and the motor learning variables. We have received the approval from Institute Human Ethical Committee for clinical trials for the Gait Dynamic Experiment in a dedicated Gait and motion Analysis facility developed at IIT Guwahati under North Eastern Center for Biological and Healthcare Engineering, DBT, India.

    Abstract:

Applications: The various potential applications include:- 1. Planning Rehabilitation regime for injury or accident patients depending on their location of their injury. 2. The developed model may also have possible applications on the field of robotics allowing the robots to learning and retain task memory without the need of prior instuctions and hence learning from experience and mimic human locomotion.
Advantages: This research gap identifies that current models do not consider motor learning phenomenon as one of the aspects of muscle excitations. The inclusion of this approach will further increase our understanding of motor learning, muscle memory and contribution of the various factors affecting the muscle excitation patterns and thus the human motion.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
