    Abstract:

Applications: The device developed is a ZigBee based 2 point 4 GHz communication module. It can be used in any of the remote monitoring, sensing and actuation appllications including the below: Environmental Monitoring Agriculture Smart home Green buildings Pollution Monitoring Teaching R&D applications
Advantages: Many of the IEEE 802.15.4 or ZigBee devices for use in India are imported. Also, the device offers limited customizations. However, the device developed includes the following features: The firmware is fully customizable The protocol layer stack from Layer 2 and above are customizable Feasibility for integration of multiple sensors Formfactor is small 5) Low-power consumption, and can be easily integrated with solar supply

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
