    Abstract:

Applications: 1. The present invention provides a system for measuring the concentration of macro- and micro-nutrients in the soil. The system comprising a portable, hand-held, and modular device for the based on the principle of ion selective electrode measuring connected with a mobile device by an application. 2. The device measures the available nutrients in the soil in real time and recommend amount of fertilizers accordingly. The application in the mobile device has an option to store the fertilizers and crop data to get the optimized amount of fertilizer needed for a particular crop with specified field size.
Advantages: 1. The primary object of the present invention is to overcome drawback associated with the prior art. Another object of the present invention is to provide a system for measuring macro as well as micro nutrient(s) in the soil. 2. The present invention is providing a system for efficient soil characterization. 3. Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a system which can measure the concentration of different chemical ions present in the soil. 4. Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a system for quantifying the amount of fertilizers in the soil for crops. 5. Yet another object of the present invention is to provide simple and cost-effective system for soil testing. 6. Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an efficient system for quantifying the soil properties. 7. Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a portable system for soil characterization that can be transported easily to farms. 8. Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a method of operation of the system for measuring macro as well as micro nutrient(s) in the soil.

THE VISION
THE MISSION
ABOUT I-STEM
It has always been the basic tenet of the Government of India, in generously funding R&D efforts at academic institutions over the years, that facilities established through such support be made available to those needing them and qualified to make use of them for their own research work

However, this was never easy or straightforward for, among other reasons, there was no ready source of information of what facility was available and where. Thanks to the Web, it is much easier today to have a national and regional “inventory of resources”, so as to match users with the resources they need, and to do all this in an efficient and transparent manner.

This can lead to a leap in R&D productivity and greatly enhance the effectiveness of public investment. This is the motivation behind I-STEM.
