Details: 

The Indian Institute of Science is delighted to host a research internship program for MBBS students to facilitate research exposure and help develop future physician scientists in the country.   

Thematic areas of Research:

Cancer Biology, Bioengineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences, Endocrinology, Biomedical devices, and many others.

Who can apply?

Students who are in their third year of MBBS degree program at an MCI/ NMC recognized medical school and have completed/ or will complete their Phase-3 (Part 1) before January 2023 are eligible to apply.  Transcripts will be checked before the start of the internship.

About 25 students will be selected based on their academic performance and the information provided within the application. 

Duration:

The internship is for 4 weeks (minimum) to 8 weeks(maximum).                           

Selected students may avail of this opportunity only once between May 2022 – April 2023 in consultation with faculty at IISc in whose laboratory the students will work.                         

Stipend:

Selected candidates will be provided a stipend of INR 25000/month (+ travel allowance) for the duration of the internship.                           

Candidates will not be provided hostel accommodation on campus and are required to make their own arrangements.                                   

A certificate of participation will be awarded after the successful completion of the program.

Application Process:

  • Application Deadline: 24th April 2022.
  • Requirements to apply: 
  1. Academic record -CGPA/overall percentage and Rank in Class (Please enter last semester grade/ Percentage if phase 3 part 1 score are not announced.)
  2. Laboratory preference: Please select 5 faculty preferences based on your research interests. To identify projects from the participating faculty in the program, please visit the “List of Projects”.
  3. Statement of Intent: The Statement of Intent will be used to evaluate the applicant for admission into the internship program. You may use this section to provide insights into your academic record,  career goals, and describe how the internship will benefit your aspirations.
  4. Support letter:  The Registrar/Dean/Principal of your institution should confirm, on official letterhead, that “The applicant is in their 3rd year of study in the MBBS program and has completed/ will have completed Phase 3 (Part 1) by (Date)”. All uploaded documents should be less than 10MB. 
  5. Incomplete applications will not be considered for the program.
  6. Selected candidates for the internship program will be informed by 30 April.
